On this excursion, we will embark on an exciting journey through the majestic Ecuadorian Andes.
Prepare yourself for a unique experience that combines adventure, unspoiled nature, and breathtaking landscapes. The cycling sections are mostly downhill, allowing intermediate-level cyclists to participate in this extraordinary journey.
Our cycling route will take us to discover some of Ecuador’s most impressive natural wonders, starting with the imposing Cotopaxi volcano, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world.
On the first day, our bikes will traverse the slopes of Cotopaxi, providing a thrilling adventure and a deep connection with this powerful force of nature. We will climb to 4,500 meters (14,500 feet) and from there, the cycling sections will be mostly flat and downhill, making the experience accessible to everyone.
The following day, we will head to Chimborazo volcano, the highest peak in Ecuador. We will begin our journey at Whymper Refuge, the highest mountain refuge in the world, and descend along winding, wild trails through virtually untouched nature. It will be a unique opportunity to contemplate spectacular mountain peak landscapes.
After two days exploring the high Andes, we’ll experience a complete change of scenery upon arriving in the city of Baños. In this paradise of thermal waters, we can relax and recharge our energies for the next stage of our adventure. Then, our journey continues to the Amazon basin region, where the landscape, climate, and vegetation change dramatically. We’ll spend the night in a lodge in the heart of the rainforest, immersed in a magical atmosphere and surrounded by the richness of the Amazon.
On the fourth day, we will have the opportunity to visit a nature reserve where we will learn firsthand about the ancestral process of cultivating and producing cocoa, immersing ourselves even further in the natural exuberance of the region.
Finally, we’ll return to the Andes for one last exciting day of cycling. The town of Baeza awaits us for one of the world’s longest descents, following the Chiche River basin to Quito.
